Two weeks ago I went to my sister’s summer ball in Bournemouth. I was so excited it was fancy dress I decided to make my costume and hand paint the fabric. Amber (my sister) had brought me the dress pattern…. though when i went to cut out the pattern… I realised she had brought me a size 20!!!
My hand painted pattern was meant to look like simplified feathers …. but everyone thinks the look like boobs.
I was so happy with the end result, I even made a bird scarf to keep me warm. Two weeks ago I went to my sister’s summer ball in Bournemouth. So happy my puppets have found a loving new home. Now I’ve sold them I feel I can finally give them names. A couple of weeks ago I did a local craft fair in Tunbridge Wells. It was so fun and I have got some commissions from doing the craft fair.  I got asked if i could create a Penguin pillow…..I think he is my favorite yet.A couple of weeks ago I did a local craft fair in Tunbridge Wells. At the moment I am working on a set of bird illustrations for a book written by Bettina aka Mrs Anke about birds in the Tunbridge Wells area. This is a Goldcrest bird which i’ve been working on today. View Larger

I have a craft fair coming up in May and have been thinking about what I could make to sell as well as my badges.
I had an idea of making my own pillows when visiting a friend who had just moved out and was thinking of creative ways to make furniture out of thing she already had around the house. This creative thinking reminded me of the Charleston trust, a place I visited as a child on the way back from my grandparents in Eastbourne. The Charleston house is the old home of the artists group the Bloomsbury group. I was fascinated about how they painted on everything and made basic home items into pieces of art. I also like the idea affordable art that people can use on a daily bases.I have a craft fair coming up in May and have been thinking about what I could make to sell as well as my badges.

One of my favorite birds is the waxwing. They aren’t a British bird but you occasionally see them in the UK during winter. I saw a group of them last winter sitting in a bare tree. To me they reminded me of a gang of teddy boys because of their pink quiff.
This thought inspired my new puppet Mr Henry. Wax. He was easy to sculpt, but hard to paint and find fabric for him.One of my favorite birds is the waxwing. I was so excited to make this dress when I got it in the post from America. It only took me two weeks to make and I was excited to try it on. When I went to try it on my heart sank a little when I realized I was too big to fit in the dress. The pattern wasn’t meant for a curvy woman.
I spoke to Jane, a lady at work who taught me how to use dress patterns about my little problem. She asked me about the pattern and when I said it was a miss range she giggled. I had brought a dress pattern for a teenager!

I managed to add some extra fabric to the dress and tried to hide the fact I hadn’t been able to fit in it.

Yesterday I had an excuse to wear it and a swap shop party that my friend Georgi had invited me to. I met some lovely people who thought I was a sewing blogger. I replied ‘I just do it for fun’, but maybe I should blog more frequently about the things I make and go into more detail about how I did it.I was so excited to make this dress when I got it in the post from America.
