I was so excited to make this dress when I got it in the post from America. It only took me two weeks to make and I was excited to try it on. When I went to try it on my heart sank a little when I realized I was too big to fit in the dress. The pattern wasn’t meant for a curvy woman.
I spoke to Jane, a lady at work who taught me how to use dress patterns about my little problem. She asked me about the pattern and when I said it was a miss range she giggled. I had brought a dress pattern for a teenager!
I managed to add some extra fabric to the dress and tried to hide the fact I hadn’t been able to fit in it.
Yesterday I had an excuse to wear it and a swap shop party that my friend Georgi had invited me to. I met some lovely people who thought I was a sewing blogger. I replied ‘I just do it for fun’, but maybe I should blog more frequently about the things I make and go into more detail about how I did it.
